Chapter 21

Funny as it seems, when one keeps complaining about his job but when the time comes for him to decide whether to stay or go, he chose to stay for another month. When its time for him to really put down his arms, his heart was heavy as he bid goodbye. He had grown attached to his team, I would say. His boss was nice, showering the team with occasional lao ban beancurd, cakes and other wonderful tidbits. He has nice jiejies too, who showed him care and concern amidst the menacing workload they have to give. I've read somewhere that, quote and unquote, memorable times are forged through hardships. Definitely, as his first office job, it would be one which he will never forget. He prepared nice little packets of mixed chocs for each of them, and was pleasantly surprise when he received a sleek looking notebook. He is surely going to be missed, and would too, miss each and everyone of them, especially the cleaner auntie who, every day without fail, would chat with us about the little details in her life, mainly the 3 grandsons who she adores deeply. The concrete office seems to have melted slightly as she excitedly recounts her incessant anecdotes of warmth. Sounds so deep and important huh, but he although he knows that this is just another story of another temp, he still feels pretty proud of what he's been through as he walked out of the doors of Cushman & Wakefield.

-extracted from the biography of Aw Zi Quan, 15th June 2012.

Alright, how cool is it if I have a biography next time. Someday when Im rich and famous and influential, having a biography would be the next milestone in my life. #dreambig #getbacktoreality

Anyways, school is starting soon and i know nuts about all the must-knows-before-you-go-school and so on. Heng i got a mole to help me, if not i think i wouldn't even know if school have started. Is there a deadline for the registration of FOC and other camps? If its first come first serve then my chances are declining as we speak. Sigh. Shall go make an effort to find out how to do it tomorrow.

Sports camp it is, I guess. CAC sounds tame and just nice for me, but if every man desire for challenges in their life, am i not correct? Just whack first then whine later ba.

Going Taiwan soon! 9  more days! Finally among all my friends who went, its my turn already. And its gonna be such a different experience. Hope it'll turn out well! -glups

One job which i strongly discourage is being an

Accountant.

No offense to those in pursuit of becoming one. But perhaps being one is not my cup of kopi-o. Been there and seen that. #truestory

Im working at Cushman & Wakefield (S) Pte Ltd now! (yes, i must follow the official name, strictly) But you might ask, no it doesnt sound like an accounting firm but a real estate firm. That's right, but Im inside the finance dept and for the past month, i had to muster all my spirits just to drag myself to work. It seemed okay for the first two weeks, but as the month is coming to an end, the amount of work, instead, suddenly became far from ending. I leave office with piles of paper on my desk, and return the next day to find even more. For a temp, im already using some cheem software called ACCPAC to generate out all the listings which i have no idea what they mean. Its figures after figures. And for the last week, i heard from jiejie that the dept stayed till 11pm on avg, the latest being 1am. Thats not the worst, I saw one of her taxi claims, even zouk close shop earlier than her.

But on top of the stress and all, i learnt pretty much a great deal from my first office job. Accounting lingos like AR AP GL IRF AOP and 234815 more are not as foreign to me now, and my excel skills have, painstakingly, improved much. Softskills like being tactful of what to say to ppl, how to hong the female aunties kai xin, and of cos, the art of using tissue paper and looking for seats in that short lunch break.

Though i knew this all along, but im still very amazed that amongst the tall, modern concrete towers and buildings, lying seamlessly behind them are various japalang shophouses, eateries, hawker centers, and even temples. The more i explore, the more of such i find. And no matter how backdated they might seem, they have no problems fitting in the crowds of contemporary workforce. Its one thing that I am kinda proud of as a Sgporean.

Draw something is really fun! Reminds me of the india days where we used to play something similiar liddat on our coms. Hah!

Incredible India.

Its india in just less than 10days.

8DAYS, to be exact.

My baggage's barely packed and my stuff are all over the place. I guess im not really in the mood of going. Its like being exiled for 2mths and i have totally no idea if there's internet there. Total isolation from everyone and everything i know, yea except for that bunch of us over there. And the food too. Its gonna be curry and naan and curry and curry and spices and masala and and curry and mutton. Oh man imma miss the muttons too. I dun wanna smell like olive oil and become 10 tones tanner and talks like a machine gun with an accent. Oh no not at all. I think im thinking too much, do forgive me unless you've gone there too. I need lots of good luck and well, more good luck.

Ok but despite all that, at least its smth different from the boring camp life i had for more than a year. Time would (hopefully) pass faster there, and before we know it, we'll be back! And then it will be..... ORD lo! =D

Exactly 3more months!

Still, that doesnt motivate me to continue packing. Perhaps tmr...

My leave is ending sooooon. Quite enjoyed the long break, but then again i didnt do much. At least not spending time in camp is a better use of it xD Loving everyday of it, especially when it rains in the morning, can sleep in without any worries and wake up when my battery bar is full. Life's little pleasures =)

Jing's in wallaby now! Not a nice place i heard, but at least he's pretty positive about it. One week liao! Missing him and his ps3 much. Haha but when he's back i'll be gone. Bleh. Hang in there strong yea!

Boo arsenal just lost again too. Hmm i realise without jing im less into following football. Even bad arsenal jokes amuses me much! Shall share a few over here :

There's been outbreak of illness in the Arsenal changing rooms. Apparently Szczesny isn't worried because he can't catch anything.

I had to choose a password for this new laptop ,I typed in " ArsenalsDefence " but it said ' It was too weak '

God approached Arsene Wenger and told him to come forth. We'll be fucking lucky to come sixth Wenger replies

After the 8-2 jokes lasted 4-3 weeks, arsenal have turned in 2-1 big joke

DAMN. We're famous for not winning. Not everyone can do it though, you dun see Tampines Rovers losing and have everyone talking about it.

In case you have read this much, and havent realise any changes, i dunno what to say. Haha i shifted my old bloggie to somewhere else, for my own reading pleasure. Time to start a new blog! Guess the next time i'll post would probably be after Dec 9.

Till then my friends!
